December Cocktail of the month - Festive Fizzle
It’s December! And we love Christmas here at Loyton (well, some of us more than others..) BUT, we do ALL love a good excuse to sip on a seasonal cocktail! Front of House Manager Ellen was inspired by mince pies and fairy lights when she came up with this delicious drink. We recommend making a big jug of it ahead of time which will make it easier to serve up and enjoy with friends at your festive gathering.
For a large batch/pitcher (serves 18)
2 1/4 cups bourbon
1 1/2 cups of the Loyton honey syrup (entire batch)
2 1/4 cups prosecco, champagne, or sparkling white wine
9 sprigs of rosemary
For a single cocktail
1 ounce bourbon
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Loyton honey syrup
1 ounce prosecco, champagne, or sparkling white wine (or enough to top off the glass)
1/2 sprig of rosemary
For the Loyton honey syrup
1/2 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup orange juice
In a small saucepan over a medium heat, whisk the honey, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and orange juice together until it starts to bubble. Remove from the heat and let it infuse overnight, then strain into a jar the next day.
In a pitcher or shaker, mix the honey syrup and whiskey together with a good amount of ice so that it is completely chilled. Strain into a different pitcher or serving glass. (Note: don’t let the honey and whiskey mixture sit in the ice for too long as it will become watered down.)
Just before serving, add your sparkling wine to top off the glass and garnish with a 1/2 spring of rosemary.
