Gary liddle
head keeper | challacombe (bray valley sporting club)
Garry Liddle grew up just a few miles from Challacombe. He started out as a keeper’s apprentice at nearby Castle Hill and as a young man he helped to establish the partridge shoot at Challacombe. After a 10-year stint in Yorkshire and another in Plymouth – because 10 years is "what it takes to do something properly”, in Gary’s words – he returned home to Challacombe. Gary relishes wild landscapes, hands-on work and a long-term approach. Gamekeeping is a way of life for him and his family: his wife Ellie runs the picking-up team and his son Ronnie is often out with the working dogs.
